Case Intercept is a product of Credit Card Art LLC, a Texas limited liability company. We help traffic and criminal-defense law firms send lawful, clearly labeled advertising mail to people who have recently been charged in court. This policy explains what information we hold, where it comes from, and what we do with it.
Two very different groups of people come into contact with Case Intercept, and we treat them differently. Law firms sign up for an account and use our dashboard. Defendants never sign up for anything; their names appear in public court records, and they may receive a postcard from a law firm that uses our service. This policy addresses each group in its own section. Please read the one that applies to you.
What Case Intercept does
Public court records come in. We score them. A postcard prints under the law firm's own name and brand, carrying the word ADVERTISEMENT and a unique QR code. If the recipient scans the code, they land on a page branded for that firm, where they can review the firm's offer, pay the firm directly, and sign an engagement agreement electronically. The firm sees the results in its dashboard.
Case Intercept is not a law firm. We do not give legal advice, and we do not form an attorney-client relationship with anyone who receives a postcard. The firm named on the card is the only party offering legal services.
Part A: Law firm customers
This section applies to attorneys and staff who create an account with us.
What we collect
- Account information. When you sign in, we receive your name and email address. Sign-in is handled by Clerk, our authentication provider, using either a one-time email code or "Continue with Google."
- Google sign-in data. If you choose "Continue with Google," Google shares your name, email address, and basic profile information with us. We request only the
openid, email, andprofilescopes and nothing more. We do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts, calendar, or any other Google data. We use this information solely to create and authenticate your account. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising. - Firm information. Your firm's name, bar number, mailing address, logo, brand colors, and the offer terms you want printed on your postcards and shown on your checkout page.
- Billing information. We bill firms for data and mail through Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems.
- Telephone number. We provision a dedicated phone number for your firm through Twilio so that recipients can reach you. This number receives inbound calls and messages. It is never used to place cold calls or send cold texts.
- Usage information. Which pages of the dashboard you use, which campaigns you run, and which creatives you approve.
How we use it
We use your account information only to create and authenticate your account and to run the service you signed up for. We use your firm information to produce your postcards, your checkout page, and your Advertising Review filing packet. We use billing information to charge you for data and mail.
We do not sell your information. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with anyone beyond the service providers listed below, and only to the extent needed to run the service.
Part B: Defendants and postcard recipients
This section applies to you if you received a postcard from a law firm that uses Case Intercept, or if your name appears in a court record we process. You did not sign up for anything, so we want to be especially clear about what we hold and why.
Where your information comes from
Every record we hold about you comes from public court records only. These are the same records anyone can view at the courthouse or through the court's public website.
We never use data derived from the Department of Motor Vehicles or any driver's license database. This is a legal line in Texas, and we do not cross it.
What we hold
From the public record, we hold the information the court published: your name, the mailing address on file with the court, the offense charged, the court, the case number, and the filing date. We use this to decide whether a firm's postcard is appropriate for your case and to print and mail it.
What we do with it
- Mail only. The only way we ever contact you is by postcard through the United States mail. We never call you and we never text you. There is no setting in our product that would allow a firm to use our system to do either.
- A clearly labeled advertisement. Every postcard carries the word ADVERTISEMENT, and every postcard design is filed with the State Bar of Texas Advertising Review Committee.
- The QR code. Each postcard carries a unique QR code. If you scan it, we record that the card was scanned and show you a page branded for the firm that sent it. The link behind the code contains a random identifier only. It never contains your name, address, or case number.
- Checkout. If you choose to hire the firm, you pay the firm directly. Payments are processed by Stripe, and the law firm, not Case Intercept, is the merchant of record. Your card details go to Stripe and are never stored on our systems. Any engagement agreement you sign is between you and the firm.
If you do nothing with the postcard, nothing further happens.
How we keep your identity separate
We split what we store into two kinds of records that live apart from each other.
Identity records hold your name, address, and case number. These exist only so a postcard can be printed and delivered, and they can be purged on their own without touching anything else.
Analytics records hold attributes only: the offense category, the court, a fine band, a coarse geographic class, the mail format, the creative variant, the number of days from filing to mailing, and funnel events such as "card scanned" or "checkout completed." Analytics records contain no name, no address, and no case number. We use them to understand what works and to report campaign results to firms.
Your personal information is never placed in analytics tables, never placed in a URL, and never placed in any publicly visible asset such as a sample postcard or a screenshot.
Records we set aside before anything mails
Before a card is printed, our system sets records aside rather than mailing them. Among others, that includes addresses the postal service reports as undeliverable, people who already have an attorney on the docket, minors, records subject to expunction, and anyone we have already mailed recently.
Sealed and expunged records
If your case is sealed or expunged, the underlying record leaves our system automatically. No one has to remember to delete it. The purge is built into the way the system reads the court record.
Your choices
If you would prefer not to receive further postcards from firms that use Case Intercept, email us at hello@caseintercept.com and tell us the name and address printed on the card. We will set that record aside so it is not mailed again. Mail already in production may still reach you.
If you believe a record we hold about you is inaccurate, tell us. We will check it against the public court record and correct or remove it as appropriate.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run the service. Each one receives only what it needs for its role.
- Clerk — authentication for law-firm accounts.
- Google — optional "Sign in with Google" for law-firm accounts.
- Stripe (including Stripe Connect) — payment processing. The law firm is the merchant of record. Card details go to Stripe and are not stored by us.
- Twilio — the inbound phone number provisioned for each firm. Not used for cold outreach.
- Cloudflare — hosting and edge delivery of the website, dashboard, and tracking pages.
- Amazon Web Services — database hosting in a United States region.
- Our print and mail vendor — receives the name, mailing address, and postcard design needed to print and mail each card, and nothing else.
We do not sell personal information to anyone. We do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks.
Retention
We keep identity records only as long as they are needed to produce, deliver, and account for a mailing, and they can be purged independently of everything else. Sealed and expunged records purge automatically as described above. Analytics records contain no personal information and are kept to measure the service over time. Law-firm account records are kept while the account is open and afterward only as long as needed for billing, tax, and legal obligations.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, including limiting who can access identity records and keeping them separate from analytics. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim any particular certification or audit. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you as the law requires.
Cookies
We set no advertising cookies and use no web analytics product anywhere on this site. There is no Google Analytics, no tracking pixel, and no advertising network.
The dashboard sets a session cookie through Clerk to keep signed-in law-firm users signed in. The pages a postcard recipient sees load no third-party code at all, apart from the checkout page, where Stripe and its fraud-prevention tools run because they are required to take a payment. Those are governed by Stripe's own privacy policy.
Children
Our service is not directed to children, and law-firm accounts are available only to licensed attorneys.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we handle defendant information, we will say so plainly here.
